ARMOR OF GOD - Gospel of Peace
By Linda Sedrick PearsonEphesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
When putting on the whole armour of God, we are to put on our feet "the preparation of the gospel of peace." We are to be prepared at all times to share God's gospel with others. I Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." Let's look at what is the "gospel of peace."
Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
This verse in Isaiah gives a thorough description of what is the "gospel of peace." The gospel of peace is:
- Bringing good tidings
- Publishing peace
- Bringing good tidings of good
- Publishing salvation
- Saying, "Thy GOD reigns!"
This is truly the "gospel of peace." No matter what happens--GOD is in control. Even though it looks like the devil has the upper hand, this is not true. The devil thought he had won when Jesus Christ was crucified, but GOD showed the devil that he was wrong. Jesus arose from the grave and ascended to heaven and He now sits on the right hand of GOD. GOD is the VICTOR. He won not only all the battles, but He won the total war!
Our job as soldiers of the LORD, is to put on another piece of armor by having our "feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace." We are to be prepared at all times to tell others about Jesus, the Son and GOD, the Father.
Why, "shod" the feet? Because is is the feet which carries us from place to place. It is hard to walk in some places without shoes. If you are barefoot, your feet may get cut on objects that lay in the road. If you stub a toe when barefoot, much damage can be done, and if your feet hurt--your whole body hurts. But, if you have on shoes (have shod your feet), then your feet are protected and you are ready to travel. So, we are to have our "feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace."
2 Tim 2:1-4 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Though therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
2 Tim 2:21-26 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peach, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
May God lead you through His Holy Word, showing you how to be prepared with His gospel.
