ARMOR OF GOD The Whole Armor
By Linda Sedrick Pearson
Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
It is necessary to put on the whole armour of God. We are not to leave off one piece of the armour. Without the whole armour, we are vulnerable to the enemy.
With God it is all or nothing. There is no straddling the fence. We can't give in on even one aspect of our lives. All things, every thing that touches our lives, are to be turned over and dependent upon God.
Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Also read Luke 16:1-13. This is a story about a man who cheated his master by using others to lie about what they owed. In the end, they all wind up liars, unfaithful, unreliable witnesses. But, that is another study.)
We are to stay covered by the armour of God seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. If we don't, the enemy can penetrate and then we may begin to lose our faith, become luke-warm Christians. God hates luke-warmness. It makes Him sick to His stomach.
Revelation 3:15-19 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Notice in Ephesians 6:13 that God says to take the "whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day." We will be able to hold up under attacks when we have on the whole armour of God.
James 4:7-10 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
When we have on the whole armour of God, when the devil attacks we can resist him. Notice that God didn't say argue with the devil, curse him, or strike him. God said resist the devil. Resist those little thoughts that come into your mind. Resist those urges that tell you, "Just this once won't hurt anything." Resist those thoughts about vengeance against those who lie about you and despitefully use you. Vengeance belongs only to God and He will repay them for their ungodly deeds.
Romans 12:19-21 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
God gives us the power to resist the devil by being prepared with His armour that He so graciously gives us. We are prepared when attacked by putting on the whole armour. We can then withstand in the evil day.
If we aren't prepared to withstand the small things that come against us, how can we be prepared to withstand the bigger troubles and tribulations that come against us? We must put on the whole armour of God in order to be able to withstand the devil when he comes against us. Whether the devil comes against us with the small things in life or the huge tribulations and evils of the day, with the whole armour of God we can withstand whatever tries to affect our lives.
Then, after all is said and done, when we stand before God the Father in heaven, with Jesus Christ by our side, we will be able to stand in Their presence.
May God put His whole armour upon you and help you to withstand the evil that comes against you.

Ephesians 6
(King James Version)
11. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
